BARZINE CHOP SAMPLER

A browser sampler that checks, trims, normalises and folds local audio to mono before cutting it into sixteen pads, recording patterns, resampling and exporting WAV files.

Prepare the source before chopping it. Check peak, RMS and stereo correlation, then use AUTO CHOP as a starting point and correct every boundary by ear.

When this helps

Prepare the source before chopping it. Check peak, RMS and stereo correlation, then use AUTO CHOP as a starting point and correct every boundary by ear.

What this browser tool does

A browser sampler that checks, trims, normalises and folds local audio to mono before cutting it into sixteen pads, recording patterns, resampling and exporting WAV files.

First five steps

  1. Load a source and read SOURCE PREP. Trim silence, normalise or make mono only when needed. AUTO ASSIGN creates chop candidates when enabled.
  2. Run AUTO CHOP with four, eight or sixteen slices.
  3. Double-click the waveform to add a cut and drag markers to correct positions.
  4. Select a pad and set pitch, level, filter and playback mode.
  5. Record a pattern, export WAV or RESAMPLE the performance to a pad.

Basic controls

AUTO ASSIGN

When it is on, loading runs AUTO CHOP with the current sensitivity and slice count. When it is off, the entire source lands in PAD 01 for manual cutting.

SOURCE PREP

FORMAT shows duration, sample rate and channels. PEAK and RMS describe level; STEREO shows left-right correlation. Negative correlation can lose weight in mono, so audition the result.

TRIM / NORMALISE / MONO

TRIM SILENCE removes only the beginning and end below the threshold and keeps a 5 ms safety edge. NORMALISE targets -1 dBFS. MAKE MONO averages all channels. SOURCE WAV exports the prepared source.

WAVE / SLICE

Coloured regions map directly to the pads. AUTO CHOP looks for attacks, while EVEN divides the source by time. Manual cuts snap near zero crossings to reduce clicks.

16 PADS

Play with 1234, QWER, ASDF and ZXCV from top to bottom. The selected pad and its waveform region share the same number.

PAD SHAPE

ONE SHOT plays through, GATE follows the key and LOOP repeats. Pitch, level, low-pass, edge fade and reverse are stored per pad.

PATTERN / RESAMPLE

The grid is one sixteen-step bar. RECORD places live hits on the nearest step. RESAMPLE records pad playback and master effects into the selected pad.

Practical setups

Prepare a sample

Normalise a quiet source, trim long edges around -48 dB and compare stereo against mono before committing.

Sixteen drum chops

Run sixteen-slice AUTO CHOP around 60% sensitivity, then drag only the markers that miss a kick or snare attack.

Manual vocal chops

Place cuts just before consonants. Use ONE SHOT for full tails or GATE to perform phrase length.

Resampled hit

Layer pitched pads, add a small delay mix and record with RESAMPLE. The result lands on the selected pad for another pass.

Save and export

SOURCE WAV exports the prepared full source. PAD WAV exports one selected sound. PATTERN WAV renders the full bar and effect tail. Source and resampled audio are not included in URLs, JSON or local favourites.

What this tool does not do

  • You are responsible for clearing the rights to any audio you load or reuse.
  • Final waveform editing and mixing belong in a DAW or dedicated editor.

FAQ

Is it free?
BARZINE CHOP SAMPLER is free to use in the browser.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Open the tool in a current browser to start.
Can I save or export the result?
SOURCE WAV exports the prepared full source. PAD WAV exports one selected sound. PATTERN WAV renders the full bar and effect tail. Source and resampled audio are not included in URLs, JSON or local favourites.
What should I try first if it does not work?
Lower sensitivity or choose fewer slices when AUTO CHOP is too busy.

Troubleshooting

  • Lower sensitivity or choose fewer slices when AUTO CHOP is too busy.
  • Move the cut or increase EDGE FADE when a pad clicks.
  • Confirm that a source is loaded and pad numbers appear in active pattern steps.
  • When RESAMPLE is unavailable, export PATTERN WAV and load that file again.
